Summary of Position
Possesses high degree of knowledge (functional and technical) on how a particular business information system(s) operates. Serves as liaison between IT, business analysts (if applicable), and the user community. Provides high level technical support and leadership for the maintenance, development and customization of the system(s). Serves as project leader for small to mid-size system upgrades and enhancements. Key player in the design and architecture of technical specifications needed to affect system installations, modifications, and on-going enhancements to system operations. Works at a high technical level in most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. May direct the work of lower level analysts. Typically reports to Manager or Director.
Essential Functions
* Formulates, designs and provides direction on projects requiring advanced skills in systems analysis. Interacts and consults with user departments to identify system requirements and solve moderately complex business problems. Based on a solid understanding of user needs, system capabilities and industry requirements, conducts feasibility analysis, prepares detailed design and programming (technical) specifications from which programs can be written. Uses structured analysis for workflow analysis, configuration choices and requirement specifications in order to implement, and tests system updates and/or configuration choices. Provides consultative systems guidance to the user area in the application of systems analysis to business problems.
* Initiates, oversees and/or coordinates a variety of systems analysis projects. Provides detailed analysis for implementation, modification and/or upgrade of system to meet business and user needs. Serves as project leader for mid-size system enhancements and upgrades. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. Analyzes and revises existing system logic. May also develop interfaces to other business information systems.
* Maintains integral business processes serviced by the system, including report production, table set-up and maintenance, and security to users. Conducts system testing and troubleshoots system errors. Runs audits and checks to ensure accuracy and integrity of data. Resolves discrepancies in information. May evaluate and recommend software packages as needed.
* Works with programmers to complete system and integration testing, and documents the technical requirements for the interfaces including error trapping and problem escalation workflows. May be required to support the system set-up tasks as well as perform detailed analysis and troubleshooting when problems arise.
* Maintains the on-going operational integrity of system files and databases for a mid-size or moderately complex system(s).

* Coordinates implementation of assigned functional and technical release installations, modifications to existing logic, and ongoing enhancements to routine and non-routine application design. Develops and maintains project plans to ensure successful completion.
* Orchestrates all phases of testing needed to implement in a production environment.
* In conjunction with IT, develops, updates, and modifies codes, tables, reports and other systems applications. Writes or aids in the design of programs to convert/import data into the system. May install convert/import programs. May audit and oversee the manual input of data into the system
* Generates routine reports and designs special reports as requested. Identifies customer needs, evaluates existing reports and recommends or develops additional ad-hoc reports.
* Produces training manuals and trains personnel on the use of the system.
* May provide guidance and direction to lower level/less experienced members of the systems team, serving as a high level technical resource.
* May serve as a point of contact for vendors as it relates to the system.
* Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Administration or related discipline
Skills and Experience: At least five years progressively more responsible experience in complex system administration. Expertise in system configuration, upgrades, designing business processes and testing methodologies. Knowledge and understanding of complex systems operations, information flows, and sound practices to ensure credibility of the system. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of personnel in discussions and explanations of complex systems. Strong communications skills, including effective oral presentation skills and excellent writing skills. Demonstrated ability to manage projects pertaining to the information system. Proficiency with other business related software applications (i.e., MS Word, Access, Excel, etc.)
