Coordinates the pre-award planning, organization, and preparation, and the post-award monitoring of various grants awarded to the college. Liaisons with Institutional Advancement and Deputy Operations Manager of the Research Foundation in grant development and oversight. Interacts with investigators and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Provides guidance and support to investigators in the identification, development, and monitoring of grants. Reports to the Director of Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Identifies prospective public and private funding sources and tracks opportunities for grant initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of the College.
  2. Provides and evaluates innovative ideas and concepts to secure additional funding.
  3. Coordinates the planning and preparation of grant proposals; provides guidance and assistance to investigators in the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.
  4. Serves as a liaison between investigators, granting agencies, and college stakeholders in the budgeting and preparation of grant proposals; compiles and prepares comprehensive budget justifications for investigators.
  5. Prepares and compiles all components of each grant submission, ensuring that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements.
  6. Advises and/or assists as appropriate in the design, formatting and preparation of grant documentation, to include creation of computerized statistical summaries and/or graphics.
  7. Develops and maintains specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information; creates and distributes standard and special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required.
  8. Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation, including such information as funding agency requirements and forms, investigator profiles and curriculum vitae, abstracts and reference literature, and other pertinent material.
  9. Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants with Development Fund and Research Foundation to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period.
  10. Tracks post-award reporting and evaluation requirements, supports report writing, and submits document to ensure compliance with Grantor.



Job Requirements:

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Associates Degree (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Three years of experience developing grant proposals, attaining grants and successful management of awarded grants.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Excellent communication skills are required to coordinate campus-wide efforts, mediate conflicts and develop effective networks with other agencies.
  • Exceptional skill in research, synthesis of information, writing and editing are needed to develop successful proposals for outside funds.
  • Knowledge of and skill in long-range and short-range planning, program development, curriculum and program evaluation;
  • knowledge of potential funding sources and skill in grant writing;
  • ability to apply local, state and federal grant guidelines;
  • skill in synthesizing a large amount of information from various sources;
  • ability to clearly communicate statistical information in tabular and graphic formats;
  • ability to develop budget recommendations and track expenditures;
  • ability to develop and write successful grant proposals; ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
  • ability to translate College priorities into programs that have a high probability of external funding.
